Euph.
eu·pho·ny: Agreeable sound, especially in the phonetic quality of words. Any agreeable (pleasing and harmonious) sounds
[French euphonie, from Late Latin euphnia, from Greek euphni, from euphnos, sweet-voiced : eu-, eu- + phn, sound; see bh-2 in Indo-European Roots.]
eu·pho·ni·um: A brass wind instrument similar to the tuba but having a somewhat higher pitch and a mellower sound. A device for producing euphony
[From Greek euphnos, sweet-voiced. See euphony.]
If that doesn't say what the best instrument is, I don't know what does. The instrument preferred by more Greeks.

Yes, that does say it rather well. But let's not forget the actual best instrument: the bassoon.
...and horn. I like horn. Bassoon is cool, but horn is actually better. That is, when it's played right.
So...
Bassoon is the coolest.
Horn/Euph is/are the best (better together)
Trombones are annoying.
Oboes are "sensual" and "soulful"
And Saxophones are just completely and utterly horrible.
I have to agree with Brian....bassoon and horn are pretty awesome, but I'm rather partial to the euphonium myself. Trombones ARE indeed annoying just as saxophones are horrible.
