Poetry's debut on The Great White Nothing

This poem was in a book in 8th grade and has been one of my favorites ever since. Don't worry, its insanely short.

A Man Said to the Universe
by: Stephen Crane
A man said to the universe:
"Sir I exist!"
"However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
A sense of obligation."

It speaks to me. And it has some great political overtones.
