Republicans Flee
Today Attorney General, John Ashcroft, was the first to resign his cabinet position along with Commerce Secretary Don Evans. The men that kept our country safe from the inside and who kept our economy from collapsing are now going to face new tasks. They both make remarks about fresh ideas and energy being needed in their respective departments. There is much speculation about who their replacements may be. In addition, Colin Powell and Donald Rumsfeld are also rumored to be leaving the administration soon. A possible replacement for either might be Condoleezza Rice. Either way, if these speculations are true, America is about to be left figuratively defenseless until someone is appointed.

Surely you were being sarcastic. First of all, it's Alan Greenspan who is keeping our economy from collapsing (by keeping interest rates at the rock bottom). Secondly, you can't believe that John "let the eagle soar" Ashcroft was the only person keeping us safe. Ashcroft was too busy using tax money to cover up the exposed breast of a statue in Washington in front of which he was being photographed. Apparently, he didn't want to be pictured with another boob. As a student, dining at the table of intellectualism, you shouldn't be in favor of the USA PATRIOT act. Civil liberties are far more important than any semblance of security. (Don't believe me? Ask the voters of New York City.) Our forefathers didn't fight for security. Ben Franklin said that "those who are willing to sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither liberty nor security." Besides, as long as we've got Tom Ridge playing color the rainbow over at The Department (of homeland security), we are totally safe. God bless America and God bless George W. Bush.

When I say that they kept us safe and kept the economy alive, I was not speaking entirely literally, because I am aware that there are others involved. I also think it will be postive to have new people holding aforementioned positions
And I forgot to say that I was being just a tad sarcastic, sometimes its hard for me to convey this is text.
We need to come up with a sarcastic smiley. The lack of emotion in text is quite frustrating.
