Vimbe vyote vya mungu wetu

Let me just say right now (before some of the band kids get too excited), that my title has little or nothing to do with my post.

It seems that when I actually want to practice, something always goes wrong. Since my good sax is being repaired, I have had to struggle through my solo and ensemble pieces on my inadequate and in need of repair marching horn. After spending about an hour trying to loosen a stripped screw that is hindering the action of my center side key by any means necessary including lubricant, fire, and an array of tools, I decided that the saxophone is no longer worth the fuss.

So, I decided that I would work on flute (I am getting stedily better, by the way). But I face the challenge of knowing only the fingerings that are the same for the saxophone (while there are many, there are not enough similar fingering to even play a scale). What is the logical place to look for flute fingerings at home?....the internet, course. The information super-highway. Do you think that there could be something that simple online? No. Google acts like it never heard of such things!

How does one expect to get a sound by blowing across the opening in a straw when they can barely make a sound on the flute?
