Just read what they want this time
The UN Security Council wants peace in with Sudan and its southern enemies by Dec. 31st. What I don't understand is what is going to make them just stop fighting after 21 years of civil war? I mean, just because we want peace in the Middle East doesn't make them feel some sudden obligation to listen. So many people were killed and the land and its people have been raped, it doesn't seem like fighting is going to stop--especially because of the oil in the region. Genocide is not justified by a history of war. War is one thing. What is going on in Darfur is completely unacceptable and must be stopped by whatever way possible. If we look the other way on this, may we be damned. An entire group of human beings is being savaged. We must intervene just as we did to stop the ethnic cleansing in the Balkans.
I know that they need help and intervention. What I'm saying is that I don't think a peace agreement is actually going to have any effect.
